Commercial aircraft deliveries, orders, backlog, production rates and the engine constraints shaping output.

Latest: August 2026 · H1 financials to 30 June 2026

Overview

Airbus delivered 475 commercial aircraft to 83 customers in the first eight months of 2026, 9% ahead of the same point in 2025. The backlog is the largest it has ever been. The constraint is not demand but the ability to convert that backlog into delivered aircraft, and in 2026 that has come down to engines.

What is limiting output

The arithmetic. With 475 delivered through August, roughly 395 aircraft remain to reach 870 — close to 99 a month across September to December, against a best month of 89 so far this year.

Engines. Airbus has warned that Pratt & Whitney engine supply is insufficient and that completed airframes may wait for engines. CFM supply has also remained tightly allocated.

The rate 75 question. Airbus still targets 70–75 A320-family aircraft a month from the end of 2027. Engine availability remains the open variable.
